[...] THE REASON is another indie movie–a horror film called 5 Across The Eyes. This movie was so BAD, so AWFUL, that I had a revelation: if these people could make and market a movie I could check out in my local Hollywood Video, well…wait a minute! I can do that! And better! After/if you read my review of this steaming pile, you might think I’ve been a little harsh, considering what I’m working on myself. So go ahead: rent it. THEN tell me if I was “too harsh” or not. [...]

I like the use of the word "hoary" in the same breath as the word "harlot." But I never thought of you as a hater but rather more on your way to becoming a curmudgeon.

I abhor prejudice but the two photos and the captions were by two different photographers and sources. Sure, it's possible that the author who used the word "looting" was racist, but who knows? Spike Lee (imho) is a racist as well. I am glad he opens the world's eyes to racism that is still there, but I've also heard him condemn white people as racist just because they are white.

This is very interesting. All i know is that they are very sensitive to the tone of one's voice. Boston's like to learn and therefore are not difficult to train. Their intelligence ensures they pick things up quickly.

He wouldn't kill a fly? He is responsible for the blood of the pirates of Somalia on his hands! The protestors in Iran are being held for protecting their vote against political oppression. We are dumb! It is time for people to realize that the nuclear trigger in North Korea meets our reaction, more interviews on MEET THE PRESS to express our outrage. If words could change the world, then our President has it covered. If actions matter, then he can join the beachcomber political prisoners beach combing in Bermuda collecting star fish. He can become a school of fish community organizer.

In the newspaper biz, a "morgue" is where back issues of the newspaper are kept--mostly to satisfy lawyers. With violence a national obsession, it's a fitting name for the shelves of musty newsprint, and banks of microfiche readers. In my few years of newspaper skulduggery I've seen plenty of disturbing things...on and off-duty, thanks in no small part to the Internet. I've browsed the digital morgue of sites like Rotten.com, played the homemade jihad-TV broadcasts of beheadings (with the sound turned off, i couldn't stand to listen) on exploitation media sites (actually, "exploitation" and "media" are pretty much synonymous by my reckoning)...and this "reality" TV has never desensitized me to violence...to say nothing of horror movies, which I adore. I've been sternly admonished about the effects of violence on my personal psychology. All B.S. If you are capable of desensitization, perhaps its not what you are watching or the frequency of your viewings, but simply that you are broken inside.
Or maybe the nay-sayer's and doomcryer's of the world are right, and I've just not seen ENOUGH to push me over the loony line yet. Just in case, I have decided to watch all of these disturbing little gems. Well, actually I've seen the Waters' flick, so I guess I can skip the dog-doodie eating.

Good to hear from you! Actually I was just thinking about you before I checked the blog traffic! Finally got hold of Missy...it's nice to see that some of the old krewe managed to make it into "adulthood" without following the rest of our classmates in their long, slow climb to conformity.
We need to get together soon so I can drag you out to Missy's. I told her I was going to force you at gun point--if necessary-- to come up with me...she'd love to see ya...so would I for that matter.
As it turns out, her fiance was a film student. I'm a big believer in karma and maybe a pinch of "fate" or pre-destination...at least, insofar as sometimes things/people/situations seem to come together for a reason, almost as if the universe is trying to work out some vast, complex problem by manipulating us in various ways.
In this case, I had been kicking around the idea of doing a zombie movie for a few years. Missy's man is (as you might expect) a big horror movie fan, so we are working on that feverishly. If you've seen "Five Across The Eyes" (its at Hollywood Video) you know its possible to make a HORRIBLE horror movie on no budget with crappy make-up and FX and STILL make money and get national distribution.
I'd LOVE for you to be a part of this!
Anyway, it was good to hear from you. You can email me here or at oneminuszero@live.com.
